The candidates who apply in response to the notification issued and are found eligible for consideration for appointment against Cultural Quota should be assessed on the following basis:

Stage 1 Written Test (the written test will consist of objective type questions) 50 marks
Stage 2 Assessment of talent in the relevant field on
(i) the basis of practical demonstration 35 marks
(ii) Testimonials / Prizes etc. 15 marks
Total 100 Marks

  • There will be negative marking in the written test and 1/3rd of marks allotted for the objective type question will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • The medium for the written examination is either Hindi or English.
  • The minimum qualifying percentage is 40% for both Stage- I and Stage- II separately. Only on qualifying Stage- I, the candidates would be eligible for Stage- II of the recruitment process.
  • Candidates to the extent of only 5 times of the vacancies in order of merit, who have scored minimum 40% marks out of 50 marks in the written examination, shall be called for practical demonstration and marking of testimonials/prizes, etc. The merit list of written examination shall be the criterion for shortlisting.
  • After clearing the Stage- I and Stage- II and after the recommendation of the Recruitment Committee, the candidate would be sent for medical examination at Railway Hospital as per the order of merit order.
  • It is mandatory for such a candidate to be declared fit in the prescribed medical category, by Railway Medical Authority, as applicable for the offered post.
  • For Written Test, the question will be an objective type of multiple choice, which may include General Knowledge, General Science, General Mathematics, Knowledge of General English & Hindi Language, Professional knowledge, Reasoning, and Aptitude, etc. Duration for Written Test is – 60 minutes and qualifying percentage in Written Test is 40%.
  • Assessment of talent would be in the relevant cultural discipline, on the basis of Practical Demonstration and on the basis of Testimonials / Prizes, etc.
  • The time and venue of written examination, Practical Demonstration/document verification will be fixed by the Railways and will be intimated to the eligible candidates in due course. No request for postponement of written test/practical demonstration/document verification will be entertained under any circumstances.

Written Examination and Proficiency Test shall be held at Maligaon, Guwahati.
